Helen Cawthorne

Helen Cawthorne studied at the Royal Academy of Music and has had a varied and busy career as a pianist, chamber musician, accompanist and coach, appearing at leading concert venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room and Queen Elizabeth Hall.

In addition to her work as a performer, Helen Cawthorne is active in a range of educational spheres. She teaches piano and chamber music at the Junior Academy of the Royal Academy of Music and to both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Southampton. For many years she was Head of Keyboard at Bedales School and she also travels worldwide as an examiner of 'grades' and diplomas for the ABRSM.

Rebecca Taylor M.St (Oxon) BA (Hons) MISN

Rebecca studied music at the University of Southampton where she graduated with a first-class honours degree in 2004. She then went on to obtain an M. St. in Musicology from the University of Oxford in 2005. For over a decade Rebecca studied singing with Christine Page and has been privileged to work with companies such as Dorset Opera.

She has played roles in numerous operas and musicals over the years with favourites including Anna in the Merry Widow and Joanna in Sweeney Todd. Rebecca has worked as a singing, piano and music teacher across Dorset, Hampshire, and now, Essex, for the past twelve years. She has also coached at the National Children's Choir of Great Britain, Stage Coach, Razzamataz, and Bournemouth Youth Theatre. When not performing on the stage Rebecca has also taken the baton as Musical Director for both Southanpton and Eastleigh Junior Operatic Societies. Last year Rebecca began working as an ABRSM music examiner and is now delighted to be adjudicating for this year's Gosport Music Festival. Whilst not occupied with all things musical, Rebecca is kept busy with her energetic three-year-old son!

Jenny Thornton

AGSM (teaching), ALAM (Acting and Public Speaking), Certificate in Education, LISTD, CDE (Dance), Adjudicator for British and International Federation of Festivals

Jenny trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama gaining awards for Character Acting and for Most Promising Teacher. Jenny has led the Performing Arts Teams in large Comprehensives, been an Assistant Principal for Edexcel, a LAMDA examiner and now enjoys running her own Performance Centre with ages from 4 years to adults delivering drama, dance and musical theatre and also writing. Her play called "Gone" gained a Commended when performed at The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond as did her most recent play "Young Love". She has two pieces in the new LAMDA acting anthology and is looking forward to seeing them performed. Jenny is looking forward to re-visiting the drama section of The Gosport Festival and making it a very positive experience for all concerned.
